Special 200th Issue!

Leave feedback here, or in the comments below!

200 issues. 15 years. The past, present and future of PC gaming. We’ve got the full spectrum is covered in PCPP#200, our very special bicentennial issue!

This isn’t a standard issue of PCPP. Some sections are in hiding. Some are a little smaller. And some are much, much larger. But let’s start with a point of familiarity: our cover preview of BioShock Infinite. Find out why it’s such a risky point of evolution for Irrational, and hear Ken Levine’s thoughts on the state of PC gaming!

PCPP#200 rolled around just in time for our 2011 Game of the Year awards. There are ten honourable mentions, and a splattering of anti-awards, but there can only be one winner…

The reviews section this month is the most radically different. We chose to do something special, and use those pages to look back on the greatest PC games ever made in the last 15 years. What you’ll find are our original reviews for ten of those games reprinted, with a Perspective piece accompanying each. It’s a look at games like Deus ExThiefPlanescape: Torment and Morrowind - then and now.

In case you’ve had your doubts about your chosen passion, we cast that aside with 200 Reasons Why You’re A PC Gamer. Every one of them is reason enough in and of itself, but put them all together, and you’ll never doubt PC gaming again.

Tech brings you a very special feature that takes you inside the belly of The Beast. Explore everything that makes this monster tick, and discover why it truly is the ultimate gaming PC!

What could we give you on the disc for such a special issue? How about a free gameGlobal Agenda is the MMOFPS that’s Team Fortress 2 meets World of Warcraft. Plus, for the strategically-inclined, there’s a massive Anno 2070 demo!

There’s so much more to PCPP#200 – but we’ll leave you to discover it yourself. Go out, buy this issue, and be a part of our very special anniversary. And here’s to 200 more.

Thanks PCPowerPlay for allowing me to remember the memorable moments, and the unforgettable characters of my Nearly 25 years of solid PC gaming. Your article “200 Good Reasons Why Youre A PC Gamer”.
From a small child, I was raised on the likes of Sopwith (thanks for the awesome reference), AMFV (yep…Infocom really was the greatest Text Adventure Company around) and even AlleyCat (the shift from Monochrome to CGA gaming was AMAZING).
From the first game of Nibbles (yep…BasicA), to seeing Fluid motion FMV sequences in Phantasmogoria, all the way to the Orbital Espionage and Interstellar battles I experience most days in EvE Online (yes…Crucible actually made the game BETTER in some aspects!!).
I couldnt imagine my life without the experiences and interactions that my Computers have given me throughout the years, as well as the valuable lessons learnt. Who can honestly say they didnt check their tires more frequently after PQ1′s insanely accurate, protocol driven gameplay???? And dont get me started on the nuances of CPR learnt from Johnny Westland (Codename:Iceman)…along with his mad volleyball skills :)
In all, your article touched a long dormant love for the subtle (and some not so subtle), things coded deep into the skeleton of these wonderful creations. May the day of the PCnever come to an end…….. …and if it does, then just as long as my tablet plays Crysis :)

I stopped reading your mag a couple years back because I stopped finding it entertaining. I picked this one up because I saw it was issue #200 and had all this memory lane type stuff so I thought “why not?”

Anyway, it seems you guys are back on track, I definitely enjoyed this enough to come on here and tell you so. I also thought the visual style and formatting of this issue was really good.
