It's been a while since #suplate was active and now with the forums gone crazy over mafia it's probably the best time to give it a boot in the ass. Mafia games on IRC are similar to the forum variant, except much faster. Rounds will last only a minute or two and there will be easy moderation of the channel.

Members new to IRC should pick up mirc or xchat as an IRC client.

The server we will be using is Austnet, the address to use is irc://au.austnet.org and the channel will be #suplate.

In this version of mafia we'll be using a 1:5 mafia ratio with a detective and a doctor. The doctor will nominate a person each night who will be saved if the mafia target that person. Creatively using the doctor can help identify innocent members. If it all works I'll introduce some new rules.

I've set a highlight for ## so if you type ## vote Lipwig your vote Lipwig message will be highlighted in IRC and I will take your vote. Mafia will be each PM'd a random channel to join where they can discuss kills etc. Players that are killed can join #endgame and talk among themselves.

Get in there and we'll see if we can get it going!

How would you run it? IRC is so impermanent. Leave the chat room and you'd have no idea whats happening or happened.
Disabled access is a dalek conspiracy.

Games only last 10-15 minutes, it's not a big time dedication. If everyone doesn't suck I'll make it 1 minute round cycles. If we need to speed the game up a little more there can always be a random killer villager that can off anyone every second night.

One of the things I liked about the other games was the duration of them. I don't see how you could fit this kind of game into a 10-15 minute timeframe without it being horribly rushed and scattered. Not to mention how shit #suplate ended up being.

Good luck though pigeonbrick!
