New racing sim based on the WTCC
 Must be a bad neighbourhood
Even though GTR 2 has not yet been released, racing game specialist SimBin has announced its next project. RACE is based on the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), and will feature the cars, drivers and locations from the 2006 WTCC season.
A very close collaboration with the organisation, car manufacturers, teams and drivers involved in the WTCC have provided SimBin with all the invaluable assets to make this production feasible. This covers all the data needed to be able to recreate the championship down to the smallest details on the cars, tracks and teams.

RACE promises everything from tough ("with a capital T") AI, to 26-player online racing, to fully functional windscreen wipers. No screenshots are available yet, but SimBin says more information, including a release date, will be revealed at the Leipzig Game Convention later this month. Until then, you can check out the game's website, which shows off the featured cars and tracks.

"It's the end of the world as we know it..."
 "My sword goes chop chop"
From developer CREOTEAM comes Collapse, a third person action game that takes the player into an alternate future where the Earth has been destroyed and overrun by aliens from another dimension.
For the sole survivors of humankind the constant threat of alien attacks is rife, and society is ruled by an "only the strongest will survive" mentality.
Details for the game are currently sketchy, as it is to be presented for the first time next week at the German Games Convention in Leipzig. So far, however, we know that it will feature:
- Hyper-realistic characters and movements, all of them created under the "Motion Capture" technology.
- A huge world to discover and explore, divided into several zones, full of secrets and enemies.
- Intuitive hit combo system based on mouse and keyboard clicks. Perform amazing and painful combos with your weapons.
- State of the art physics system. Hundreds of elements in the scenario can be destroyed, moved and used as pieces to solve complex puzzles.
- Buka Entertainment
Collapse is slated for release in 2007. Check out the official site over the coming weeks for more news.

To boldly revisit...
"Second star to the right... and straight on 'til morning"
Bethesda Softworks, developer of the acclaimed Elder Scrolls series, has announced that it has signed all five Star Trek captains to voice their roles in the upcoming game Star Trek: Legacy. As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations for the series, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula will work together on the same project for the first time.
"I am delighted to have the chance to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Trek with my fellow captains by providing our voices to STAR TREK: Legacy," said Shatner. "Bethesda Softworks has done an excellent job in creating an exciting game that stays true to Star Trek's roots and accurately incorporates elements from each series."
[...]
"We are absolutely thrilled to have the five actors who portrayed the STAR TREK captains take part in this project," said Todd Vaughn, vice president of development, Bethesda Softworks. "Their participation, especially since it takes place during the series' 40th anniversary, will add to the fun and excitement of the game and emphasizes our commitment to provide fans with the most authentic STAR TREK experience possible."
- Bethesda Press Release
With legendary Star Trek author D.C. Fontana writing the story - which spans all five series plus the movies - Bethesda hopes that Legacy will rekindle a waning interest in the Star Trek universe, and fill the vacuum which was left after Enterprise was cancelled.

Cecil Speaks Out
This bloke has his priorities straight
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Charles Cecil (the man behind the Broken Sword series) revealed that he is interested in creating a sequel to his critically acclaimed adventure game of 1994, Beneath a Steel Sky.
"...from a commercial perspective, there's a great deal to suggest that the game could be very well received. There's a lot of interest in it."
"The only thing is, if we were to do a Steel Sky 2 - and this is something that I'm looking into - then I'd dearly love to work with Dave Gibbons again, because his input last time around was great. Dave and I communicate from time to time, and he's always expressed an interest in working on a sequel."
- Eurogamer
While Steel Sky 2 is possibly on the horizon, Cecil is currently working on getting Broken Sword: The Angel of Death onto store shelves in the next month.
