Okay I'll 'fess up. In previous blogs you'll have probably noted some allusions to the fact that I might have one or two consoles stashed away in my humble abode. I can't deny it. I am a cross platform gamer. My PC is joined by a PS2, Gamecube, 360, PSP and Nintendo DS. I hate business travel. I really do. The reason for this communication blackout was nothing other than a simple business trip. Get up at some ungodly hour, fly back late at night, spend the following day in a bleary eyed, barely coherent mess. Trust me, it is no good. Those who know me personally are probably aware of where I'm going with this but for those who don't, all I can say to you is Shadowrun.

In equal measures online gaming can be a trying and rewarding game experience. You only need to have played one game of Counterstrike to know why this is. Assuming the online game in question is good and technically solid the thing that makes or breaks a good online session is the same thing that makes or breaks a party: the people.

I know a lot of people can get cranky about Steam but you have to hand it to Valve. Not only have they made massive forays into the world of digital distribution, released two of the greatest first person shooters known to man, supported independent developers, created accessible game technology but now they seem to be aiming for some kind of record for content stuffing.
