If you were stop me in the street and say "Nathan! Snap quiz! What is your favourite gaming genre?" I'd probably pause a moment to ask exactly who you were, why you were following me and then finally answer the question with a resounding chorus (assuming one man can be a chorus unto himself) of "RPGs".

I love RPGs. To me they represent the ultimate destination all gaming seeks to achieve, pure escapism. Recently though, I've started to wonder if they are still the genre for me and it has nothing to do with love.

Bob Geldof once asked a generation of leotard loving, headband wearing, day-glo fetishists to tell him why he didn't like Mondays. No offence to the man but seriously, is it that hard to figure out? It is the end of the weekend and the start of the working week for crying out loud. I don't care how great the team of spin doctors behind Monday's public image are, no marketing, no amount of babies kissed, no number of Rove appearances is going to have anyone singing and dancing about this particular day of the week. Except Sir Bob of course but he was singing about it for all the wrong reasons.

Welcome to the Blogosphere, I’m pretty sure that’s what all the cool kids are calling it these days. This is my first foray into this strange world of electronic discourse… I guess it is kind of like a forum post except this time it comes with accountability (ie: Darren will break my legs if I don’t meet my obligations). Kind of scary really but I’m sure you’ll all bear with me while I get my bearings.
