Bethesda gets to work

Stop standing around the fountain, get patching!
The official Elder Scrolls page has unveiled a beta patch to fix some known issues with The Shivering Isles, including the bug that threatens player's saved data.

Bethesda has stated that this beta patch is only a temporary fix and a proper patch will be available soon. Bethesda recommends that all players back up all of their saved data prior to installation of the patch, as well as warning players that when the final patch is released a re-install of the game might be necessary.

You can find the release notes and the patch itself on the Elder Scrolls website.

Nasty bug makes its way through Oblivion expansion

Box art. This is about all that some players can enjoy about SI at the moment
Many Shivering Isles players have found themselves to be the victim of a nasty bug in the recent expansion. Reports state that players that have Shivering Isles installed have experienced the game becoming unplayable in a variety of ways (regardless of whether they are accessing Shivering Isles content or not) after they have clocked anywhere from 50 to 120 hours of play time.

The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages have been keeping tabs on this bug and have posted possible fixes for both PC and Xbox users. Bethesda is aware of the situation and are currently working on a solution to the bug crisis. One developer has taken to the Bethesda forums and issued a statement to concern Oblivion gamers:

Regarding the issue in which Form ID's are being used at a high rate in the Shivering Isles content; we are aware of the issue and we are currently looking into a solution. We appreciate your patience, especially from those of you affected by this issue, as we carefully work out a fix that will correct this problem without adding any new issues. --NothingCatchy, Developer

Take a fantastic voyage through mythology

Are you game enough to mess with him?
What do you get when you pair up a Norse fighter, a Greek warrior, an Egyptian magician and an Aztec shaman? No it isn't the start of a "...walked into a bar joke", it's the premise behind the upcoming action RPG Loki.

Rather than sticking to one of the world's great mythologies, Loki has decided to combine four of them to create a different playing experience with each character. Depending on your alliance, your player must race to the aid of the Gods he worships in a struggle to keep Seth, the Egyptian God of darkness and evil, from establishing a wicked reign on the world.

The latest Loki trailer shows off some of the beautiful game environments that are capable with the AGEIA PhysX processor.

Loki puts the player in key epochs of history surrounded by legendary heroes, powerful divinities and mythical creatures such as hydrae, dragons and minotaurs. With Loki's extensive population of characters and dynamic real-time action, Cyanide developers chose to optimize the game for the real-time action acceleration of the AGEIA PhysX processor. The dedicated physics processing horsepower of the AGEIA PhysX processor enables much more realistic characters with joints, convexes and other intricate geometry, as well as dazzling real-time effects.

- Official Press Release

Loki looks set for a European release this June, but currently there is no word on if or when it will hit Australian shores.
