Monolith powers on without the F.E.A.R. licence

Anyone for hopscotch?
After getting caught up in the legalese of losing the naming rights of the F.E.A.R. franchise to Vivendi, Monolith has finally revealed the title of the forthcoming sequel.

Numerous entries were submitted by the F.E.A.R. community on the Name Your FEAR contest webpage over the past few months. From that, three finalists were then chosen: Project Origin, Dead Echo and Dark Signal. The winning entry was announced today, and it looks like gamers will be expecting to see Project Origin appearing on game store shelves.

Monolith producer Troy Skinner was quite pleased with the naming results, and adamant that Project Origin will become a great gaming franchise in its own right.

Our team really enjoyed letting the fans drive the naming process, and we are excited to expand upon the work we began in the original game and establish Project Origin as a premier gaming franchise in its own right.

- Official Press Release

So far, Monolith is remaining tight lipped about when gamers can expect to get their hands on Project Origin.

Demo expected soon

The Strogg are almost here
A post on theEnemy Territory: QUAKE Wars website over the weekend revealed that the highly anticipated shooter has now gone gold and is scheduled to be released in Australia on September 28.

The post also talks about the release of the demo (expected mid-September) and putting the finishing touches on the SDK so that mod-makers can start pumping out new content.

Back in 2003, we started exchanging design ideas with id Software for what started out as a fairly modest attempt to evolve the team-play in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Now, four years later, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars has officially gone GOLD!

Of course this is just the beginning of the next phase – that of the ongoing support for Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars. Our first goal after completing the game's demo (planned for release in mid-September - we're working on that right now) will be to watch closely and address any issues that come up in the first few weeks after the game's release. Next, we'll be putting the polish on the Software Developers Kit, including the Source Code, Level Design Tools and documentation to make sure mod-makers get what they need.

So it is with our deepest gratitude that we'd like to thank all of the community members that have contributed so much to helping us get the game to gold.
