Team Fortress and Portal follow suit

We'll have to wait a little longer for Gordon and Alyx's latest adventure
Valve's Doug Lombardi has told the gaming press that the highly anticipated release of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 has now been pushed back to "Summer 2007" which equals to a release some time this Winter for those of us in the Southern hemisphere.

While no reason for the delay has been voiced, it is likely due to the ambitious scale of the project, which also includes Portal and Team Fortress 2.

Alongside this news, Valve and EA officially announced the two retail packages that will be available for Half-Life: Episode 2. The Black Box package will include Episode 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2, while the Orange Box will carry the contents of the Black Box as well as Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 1.

Keep your eye on the Steam website for any new developments.

The game formally known as UT2007...

War never looked so sexy
Midway's Gamers' Day in Las Vegas provided a lot of information and excitement, but none more so than the name change of Unreal Tournament 2007 to Unreal Tournament III.

Epic's VP Mark Rein explained the name change as paying tribute to the game's history -- UTIII is the third generation of the Unreal Tournament franchise and it uses the third generation of the Unreal engine technology.

For more on Unreal Tournament III, check out a minute of gameplay footage of this hotly anticipated shooter on Gamers Hell

Not just a crappy Van Damme flick

"Damn, there's nowhere to park my helicopter!"
Have you ever had one of those sucky days where you feel like joining the Foreign Legion? Okay, so maybe it was just Jean-Claude's way of escaping the world, but a newly announced shooter by the name of Code of Honor: The French Foreign Legion will nevertheless let you do just that.

Code of Honor straps players in the combat boots of a Legionnaire in the middle of a civil war in the Ivory Coast. Players will work through a single player campaign based on real world battlefields that have been recreated through the use of satellite imagery to bring an unbridled sense of realism to the levels. The fast-paced action of the title will be backed up with some nifty detailing as well -- Legionnaire uniforms, weapons and other equipment will all be meticulously modelled. And don't forget to dig out your foreign language dictionaries, because the game's NPCs will be mouthing off at you in their native tongue.

- a full-blooded solo campaign taking place in authentic locations in Ivory Coast
- real-world Foreign Legion uniforms, weaponry, and equipment, including the FAMAS assault rifle, FRF2 sniper rifle, LRAC rocket launcher, HK UPS pistol, Aerospatiale Puma and Gazelle helicopters, and AMX 10RC and VAB ground combat vehicles
- authentic battlefields recreated from satellite photos complete with animated local vegetation, great visual and sound effects
- a fast and action oriented gameplay seen from the first person perspective
- fresh and unique topic built on world-famous army

- Official Press Release

Currently the title has no release date attached, but the first batch of screenshots have surfaced for you to take a peep at on the 3D Gamers website.

R6V patch hits the Interweb

Waiting for you to update
Ubisoft has announced the arrival of the 1.03 patch for Rainbow Six Vegas. On top of that, the dedicated server tools have also been released, allowing gamers to set up their own servers for the game.

The 92MB patch offers a host of fixes for both the game's single and multiplayer experience. A complete list of bug fixes can be found in the release notes.

Sites such as GameArena and 3D Gamers are hosting the patch, but at the moment the dedicated server setup can only be obtained directly from Ubisoft.
