Damn capitalism!

I need guns, lots of guns!
Valve recently released details on an interesting new addition to Counter-Strike: Source, coming in the form of dynamic weapon pricing.

Most of the weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike have had the same prices since the day the game was first released. These prices greatly affect the overall balance of the game. We at Valve know we're not alone in thinking that some of the prices in the game have never been exactly what they should be. (Uh, night-vision?) But rather than tweaking the values ourselves, we thought we'd rather let you decide. Coming soon in Counter-Strike: Source is a new system that sets the prices of what you can buy based on, well, what people are buying.

Starting on October 11th, the prices of weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike: Source will be updated each week based on the global market demand for each item. As more people purchase a certain weapon, the price for that weapon will rise and other weapons will become less expensive.

On November 14, the American Civil War is set loose on gamers

Fighting one day, playing cards the next
Activision has announced a new title set for release later this year: The History Channel's Civil War. The game will feature twelve of the most famous battles of the American Civil War, such as the battles at Gettysburg, Bull Run and Antietam, told via a first-person perspective, and all with their own diverse landscapes and settings.

Players will be able to fight as a Confederate or Union soldier, utilising authentic firearms to fight in intense battlefield scenarios. The game also features a melee fighting system, including bayonets, sabres, butts of guns and even fists.

The developers have recreated all of the chosen battles with topographical maps and historical accuracy. Each level of the game begins with a documentary describing the historical facts behind each scenario.

The History Channel's Civil War is scheduled to be released on November 14.

The new content will include extra player skins as well as some new multiplayer maps to keep the trigger-happy fans satisfied. Also revealed by George Broussard is that the Prey SDK is nearing completion and should be ready after the content patch is released.

3D Realms have given their infamous "When it's done" date for the Prey content patch, though indications are that this date will not be as far off as some other products from 3D Realms.
