A Vampyre Story teases gamers
Even vampires need to stop for directions.
Details on A Vampyre Story have been a scarce commodity on the Internet. For a long time, adventure gamers have diligently been checking out the official website in the hopes that a new screenshot or a flashy piece of concept art will be posted.
Well, forget the art and the screenies, because the wait has finally paid off. For their patience, gamers will be able to take a gander at the teaser trailer that was first shown at the GC Developers Conference (GCDC) in Leipzig earlier this month.
The bite-sized trailer won't take a chunk out of your download limit, as it weighs in at a paltry 22MB. Head over to the official website and download it before the sun sets.

Overture sequel to arrive in '08
Creepy people near archways will wait to kill you in '08
The adventure genre is about to get scarier, with the announcement that a sequel to Penumbra: Overture is in the works.
The follow-up to the slow-burning psychological thriller is to be titled Penumbra: Black Plague, and will officially be the final chapter of the Penumbra games. Although it was to be a trilogy, Paradox Interactive is keeping tight-lipped about whether a game will be released to bridge the gaps between Overture and Black Plague.
"Penumbra: Overture has been referred to as the scariest adventure game to appear in years, and with Penumbra: Black Plague, the developers have managed to push the boundaries of psychological horror even further, said Fredrik Wester, Executive Vice President of Paradox Interactive. "Their unique and innovative approach to gaming adventures made Penumbra a fan and media favorite and we are convinced that Penumbra: Black Plague will have an even bigger impact on the gaming community".
"Penumbra: Black Plague is horrific, life-like, interactive and unique and we are thrilled to be working with Paradox Interactive to introduce this game to a worldwide audience, said Jens Nilsson, Co-Founder Frictional Games". "We've worked with Paradox in the past and their support for our vision and ideas has made it possible for us to keep on developing games that we believe in."
- Official Press Release
Penumbra: Black Plague is slated for release early next year.

New screens show off next title
 Mama said knock you out!
The first season of the Sam & Max experiment is in the books, and the moderate success of the crazy crime fighting duo was enough for Telltale to green light Season 2.
Details have slowly been filtering out on the second season, with a trailer and set of concept screenshots showing off the pretties of the next episode, but still not much is known about the story side of the game. Telltale has just released the latest batch of screens, which show some promising signs of more wackiness to come for the franchise.
Check out the Sam & Max media page on IGN to see them for yourself.

Mafia 2 prepares to hit the streets
 "You'll never take me alive!"
After much speculation, 2K Games has officially announced that Mafia 2 is in production.
Following in the footsteps of the original Mafia game, players will again find themselves immersed in the ways of the Mob during the 40s and 50s. With a rich narrative, action packed gunplay and driving thrills on offer, Mafia 2 aims to bring Hollywood blockbuster action to your PC.
New York, NY - August 21, 2007 - 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), today announced that it will publish Mafia 2, a sequel to the original Mafia title that sold more than two million copies worldwide and helped popularize the gangster genre. Featuring a deep mobster-driven narrative packed with both behind-the-wheel and on-foot action, Mafia 2 is the sequel fans have been clamoring for. The game is being developed by Illusion Softworks, developers of the original Mafia title, for next generation consoles and Games for Windows®.
Like the original Mafia title, Mafia 2 immerses players in the mob underworld of a fictitious late 1940's-early 1950's scenario. Players will easily become engaged in the game's cinematic Hollywood movie experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing city. By fusing high octane gunplay with white knuckle driving and an engaging narrative, Mafia 2 looks to be the industry's most compelling Mafia title to date.
"As the original Mafia was a big success, we are excited to leverage the power of next generation console technology to create an all-new experience, while embracing the elements that resonated with the previous game's fans," said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. "The 'wow' factor of Mafia 2 is definitely the benchmark-setting visual quality and action that you expect to see only in Hollywood movies."

More adventures for our favourite crimefighting duo
"We don't serve crazy rabbits in this establishment!"
Another high profile announcement this week is the announcement of Season 2 of the Sam & Max episodic titles.
Telltale games officially announced that Season 2 has been greenlit and it will debut later this year. One big difference that will excite gamers is that the reduced waiting time for non-GameTap subscribers. Between the exclusive launch on the GameTap network and the game's arrival on the Telltale Games website for non-GameTap subscribers, waiting time will shrink to 1 day, instead of the 15 schedule that the previous series was working on.
Sam & Max Season Two will feature the same quick wit and bizarre scenarios Telltale's team and Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell delivered the first time around—and more! "We're sticking with the dramatic structure and accessible gameplay style that are working so well, focusing on telling crazier stories, and telling them better," says Telltale's design director Dave Grossman. "You'll see some changes to the world; improvements that were born out of player feedback and our own desire to create the smoothest and most entertaining experience possible."
Some of these changes are evident in the first Season Two render, released today, which is set in Stinky's, the diner down the street from Sam & Max's office that remained closed for the entire first season.
- Official Press Release
In celebration of the duo's 20th anniversary, more Sam & Max gaming assets will be unveiled during the Comic-Con event.
