Stroke it like a pro

Fore!
A demo of ProStroke Golf World Tour 2007 has quietly made its way onto the internet, offering golf fans an alternative to Tiger Woods.

ProStroke Golf features 18 courses and numerous game modes, as well as licensed players like Sergio Garcia and Colin Montgomerie. Its most unique feature, though, is the eponymous "ProStroke" system:

ProStroke allows you the player to set up and take shots exactly as you would do in real golf. Gone is the 3 click system for taking shots or a single analogue swing with after-touch. In ProStroke you can change weight distribution allowing for different swing trajectories, open and close your stance for multiple shot types or open and close your club face just like in real golf.

The 265 MB demo is available from Internode Games Network and Gamers Hell. The full version is in stores now.

Get your nitro fix here

Get some air
French developer Game Seed has released some new media for its upcoming PC game Nitro Stunt Racing (NSR). True to its name, the game features some crazy courses with huge jumps and loop-the-loops.

Totally realistic handling, very high speed cars with over boosted jet engines, air control : NSR succeeds to be a realistic car racing game that everybody can play.

- Game Seed

The Nitro Stunt Racing website hosts a collection of high-res screenshots and a gameplay video, which are mirrored at 3D Gamers.

The car and track designs look like a mix of Trackmania and the Aussie classic Powerslide, and hopefully NSR can capture those games' ease of use and sense of fun. We'll find out when the game is released "within 2006".

You try handling Mike Tyson

Snakes in a Game. Or something nothing like that.
Adventure game publisher ANACONDA has gone beyond its usual purview by announcing a sports management sim. Boxing Manager will put players in control of a stable of boxers, taking them from young amateurs to mildly brain-damaged professionals.

The aim: taking your prize fighters all the way to the top and win world championship belts of all three federations. Starting out with a small team and three unknown, talented fighters, managers will train the boxers, sign on new up-and-comers and expert staff from around the world, set up bouts and determine tactics and techniques before and during the events.

- Blues News

Boxing Manager is being developed by Proline Software, which has no online presence to speak of. According to 3D Gamers, however, Proline is responsible for soccer management sim Kicker Manager 2004, so they have some form.

Boxing Manager will be published worldwide by ANACONDA in November this year.

In an extreme manner

Imagine a freak in snow
Austrian publisher JoWooD has announced Freak Out - Extreme Freeride, a game all about freestyle skiing. It's being developed by Swedish company Coldwood (no relation), who has previously teamed up with JoWooD on the Ski Racing series. Blues News has the press release:

The steepest slopes, thrilling stunts and dangerous action provide a most excellent skiing experience. At an altitude of 2000 metres, far away from civilization, in a battle between you and nature. Who rides the craziest track, where does the next jump lead to; speed, tricks or staying upright ? Only those who are willing to push their own boundaries will experience the ultimate adrenaline rush!

- Blues News

There are no other details or screenshots at the moment, but extreme sports freaks can keep an eye on the game's website, which currently redirects to JoWooD. Freak Out is due for PC and PS2 late this year, and on PSP in 2007.
