PC version finally nears release
 That's one steep hill
The long-delayed PC version of Atari's long-delayed Test Drive Unlimited has gone gold, after being available on Xbox 360 since last September. Here's word on the PC differences, which are mostly related to graphics and peripherals:
Developed by Eden Studios, the team behind the Xbox 360 version, Test Drive Unlimited for PC features 90 incredible cars and bikes from some of the world's most desirable brands including Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati, and many more. Requiring no monthly subscription to play, the game takes advantage of cutting-edge PC hardware, allowing it to be played in
extremely high resolution that take Test Drive Unlimited's visuals to a new level. Enhancements include TrackIR(TM) support, improved effects, steering wheel support and simplified matchmaking.

The game is due in stores on 20 March in the US, and 30 March in Australia. It's also available as a download on Atari's US website now, a couple of weeks before its retail store release.

Merges virtual street racing with real auto show
 It's not a game, it's a lifestyle
THQ has announced a sequel to its high-selling Juiced racing game. Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights will focus on the street racing and car tuning culture that's so popular with the kids nowadays.
The subtitle reveals the game's tie-in with the real Hot Import Nights auto show that combines tuning and modding with music and models. Presumably they drive cars on occasion too.
"Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights is an amazing extension of the Hot Import Nights lifestyle experience, bringing the modding, characters and racing finale to life for gamers and tuning fans worldwide," said Michael Munar, Executive Producer, APG Events/Hot Import Nights.
- THQ
Juiced 2 is due in the third quarter of this year on PC and numerous consoles.

It's a no-brainer, surely
 More exciting than Roy
These Wii wordplays might be getting dull, but this one's worth it. As every Wii-playing cricket fan knows, Nintendo's new console is perfectly suited to Australia's summer sport of choice. Unfortunately, we can't expect Japanese and Americans to understand the more cultured bat and ball game, which is why cricket-playing nations need to make their voice heard.
That's exactly what they're doing through WiiWantCricket.com, a website designed to attract the attention of game publishers and prove that there's a demand. The full website is coming soon, and in the meantime there are links to a short Youtube teaser and a discussion forum.
There's no doubt the Wii controller would radically change cricket gameplay. The only question is whether publishers will fund a game for a single platform that won't be popular in America. You can help convince them here.

Freefalling onto a PC near you
"I am a leaf on the wind..."
For those of you that want to experience the thrill off base jumping without literally throwing oneself off a building, B.A.S.E. will show you how its done.
More than plummeting to a near death, B.A.S.E. will let gamers use a host of real world equipment as they perform all sorts of acrobatic tricks while in the air. Players will get experience points for the moves that they use, which will in turn open up a plethora of new moves to test out on the journey down.
- BASE-jumping simulator. This game is entirely devoted to the most fascinating of extreme sports - BASE-jumping. Specially developed physics reflect the subtleties of this process: freefall, acrobatics, parachute flight, landing, wind and turbulence.
- Acrobatics. Freefall lasts only a dozen seconds, but once you get used to the gameplay you will understand that it's ample time to pull off some mad tricks.
- Real geographical locations. A real-life replica is placed in each of the game's jumping sites. The majority of these sites are well-known both among BASE jumpers and to the general public.
- Camera effects. Various effects (both animation "slo-mo" and "shaking", as well as graphic "motion blur" and "depth of field") are implemented to reproduce the entire range of sensations of a BASE jump.
- BASE Gear. The game allows you to test-jump dozens of real-world types of gear specifically developed for BASE jumping.
- Virtues and skills. Each successful jump increases your character's experience. As time goes by, your character can acquire new aerobatic skills.
- Official Website
B.A.S.E. is expected to freefall onto store shelves in the coming months. You can take a peek at the action by watching the gameplay video on the official B.A.S.E. website
