New screenshots emerge

That's gotta hurt!
New screenshots have emerged from Liquid Entertainment's foray of domesticity, Desperate Housewives.

The makers of Dragonshard have been hard at work on the 3D "lifestyle" simulation based on the hit television show that will allow gamers to unlock the juicy scandals hidden in the outwardly "perfect" street of suburbia. The screenshots themselves show off the wardrobe, cooking and bitch slapping activities that the game has to offer.

You'll find the latest dirt from those Desperate Housewives here.

- The Sims 2 Online

So apart from chewing on your virtual furniture, what exactly do pets bring to the Sims 2 universe? They'll dig holes in your yard, pee on the sofa and learn tricks. If you have trained your pooch particularly well you'll be able to put it to work in a choice of three career tracks - Show Business, Security and Service. With a pet selection that ranges from birds and guinea pigs to cats and dogs, Maxis has the whole menagerie covered.

EA plans to release the hounds onto your PC this November.

The lion sleeps tonight...

Eating small children on a PC near you
From the makers of Painkiller(!) comes Wildlife Zoo, a mangagement simulation game that will let players manage all the ins-and-outs of running their very own zoo.

The game offers over 100 different animals for you to show off, along with a host of other options like designing and building your own animal enclosures, visitor amenities, facilities for staff and playground equipment to keep the lions from eating the kiddies. As well as building your own zoo from the ground up, the game will allow you to take control of a host of zoo employees to help make it a thriving business: landscape architects, gardeners, keepers, veterinarians, and scientists.

Wildlife Zoo will feature:

- Spectacular graphics with zoo, animal, and plant simulation in real-time 3D
- Embark upon 20 missions around the world
- Experience realistic animal behavior including: individual social lives, birth and aging, aggression, and trainability
- Breed exotic and extinct animal and plant species in special research labs
- Travel bridge systems, underwater tunnels, and command jeeps for a real safari adventure
- Use "visitor mode" to take a walk or drive around the zoo you’ve created
- Create advertising and execute marketing plans to attract new visitors
- Use the built-in encyclopedia to look-up useful information on both animals and plants

- Official Press Release

Wildlife Zoo will be stampeding its way onto the PC later this month.

Somebody hand me a scalpel

They're faker than Paris Hilton's personality
It's time to break out your best green scrubs and don your stethoscope for a game of doctors and nurses. Hospital Tycoon, the latest managment sim from Deep Red Games, aims to combine the drama and chaos of running a hospital with a touch of humour.

The game will let players control every aspect of running, upgrading and expanding their medical facility. Trying to step away from simulation games that revolve around micro-management, Hospital Tycoon will focus on how the characters (doctors, nurses, patients) react with each other and respond to how the player is running the hospital.

Hospital Tycoon will be skewed towards the humourous and bizarre rather than being a serious representation, giving patients a host of weirdly-named diseases like "Stress Zombosis" and "Monkey Nuts".

Hospital Tycoon is hoping to infect your PC mid 2007.

Will Wright sets the record straight

A creature of my very own
Since its announcement, the buzz surrounding Will Wright's latest venture Spore has grown to epic proportions. The first truly original title from Wright since The Sims in 2000, Spore allows you to develop your own alien species, from a single-celled organism right through to controlling the entire modern civilisation of your species' planet.

Initially, Spore was targeted with a late-2006 release date, but in a recent interview with GameSpot, Will Wright has stated that "we're saying the second half of next year for now". Looks like Spore will be sitting on the 'to be released' list until at least the end of 2007.

Spore will allow players to:

- Fight with other creatures and consume them to adjust the form and abilities of your creature. It's survival of the fittest at the most microscopic level.
- Venture onto land and help your creature learn and evolve with forays away from your nest.
- Bring your creatures' race into a new golden era by building up the technology, architecture, and infrastructure of their city.
- Once your city is established, your creatures begin seeking out and interacting with other cultures. Make contact with an olive branch or a war cry. The goal for your creatures is to conquer the planet.
- Make contact, colonize, or terraform, then venture further to find other solar systems. A 'mission' structure provides new goals in your quest for galactic dominance.
