For some reason, the more "realistic" a game world attempts to be, the faker it looks. Meanwhile, abstract universes of shape and form and unexpected jumping puzzles remain far more compelling. Abstraction is better than representation. What's true in some art is also true in some games.

There's this guy, right, and he walks into a bar. And the barman says to him, "Hey, you're the guy who writes those blog things, aren't you? The mailbag ones?" The guy says "Yeah." The barman goes, "Well I ain't serving you a thing until I see a new post on the site! Now git!" So the guy leaves the bar and sits at his computer and creates a new blog post. True story.
