Labor Considers Industry Rebate Tue, 23 October 2007 Games industry gets minor victory in Canberra
![]() Senator Conroy Labor's Shadow Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Stephen Conroy, has promised to form a committee to consider the request, should Labor be elected in a few weeks' time. The Game Developers Association of Australia (GDAA) has been calling for the rebate scheme for some time, but the Coalition government has been less than receptive. Says the GDAA's Greg Bondar:
"We are thrilled that Senator Conroy is prepared, should Labor be elected to government, to take the time to assess our industry and give sound consideration to our call for a rebate. This is a positive step forward for our industry."
- Screen Play Forming a committee to mull things over is a far cry from actually granting the GDAA's wish, of course, but it's a start.
