"The acquisition of Big Huge Games is a big win for THQ as we continue to expand both our internal development capabilities and our portfolio of owned intellectual properties," said Jack Sorensen, executive vice president of worldwide studios, THQ. "The talent at Big Huge Games has an outstanding history of developing top-selling quality games and we look forward to their creation of many exciting new owned franchises for THQ."
- Big Huge Games While Big Huge Games is known for its strategy titles like Rise of Nations, the developer has switched focus to the RPG market, even bringing veteran Elder Scrolls designer Ken Rolston out of retirement last year. According to the press release, that's why THQ is interested in the studio: Big Huge Games will now be driving the publisher's RPG efforts. That's also what prompted EA's purchase of BioWare last year, and was also a factor in the creation of the new Activision-Blizzard behemoth. Such strong competitors will hopefully be a good thing for RPG fans.
