The future is uncertain for the brightly-coloured MMORPG

Squeak!
In an unexpected move, EI Interactive has purchased Horizons: Empire of Staria from Tulga Games - including all ownership of intellectual property and relevant technology. So far, EI's plans for Horizons are still something of a mystery, however Ed Andercheck of EI has stated that he plans on remaining true to the spirit of the game. No commitment has been made to transfer staff from Rulga to EI Interactive, although four staff members will remain for the duration of the transfer - including Tulga CEO David Bowman.

At E3 2006, Tulga Games announced Settlements, an expansion to Horizons. This was acquired by EI Interactive and they are evaluating the concept. However, at the time of the transfer Settlements was still in the design phases and EI has not yet decided whether they will pursue it.

While Andercheck says he has no plans to radically change Horizons, he added that his team was intrigued by the original Race Wars concept for Horizons. As some may recall, under its original design, all the races of Horizons would have been at war in a PvP-oriented title. Andercheck was clear though that he does not plan to alter the current game world, but will evaluate this and other concepts as options for entirely new servers.

The move has left the Horizons community uncertain about the future, and deeply pessimistic despite Andercheck's assurances that the game will continue. In addition to the potential departure of the entire current development team, many are citing EI Interactive's unimpressive website design as a major cause for concern.
