Robotic girlfriend now available Wed, 18 June 2008 Lonely no more
![]() Not bad for a piece of AI EMA, or Eternal Maiden Actualisation, uses infrared sensors and battery power to sense nearby human heads, so that she can enter 'love mode'. In this mode, she can kiss on command and puckers up for anyone nearby.
"Strong, tough and battle-ready are some of the words often associated with robots, but we wanted to break that stereotype and provide a robot that's sweet and interactive," said Minako Sakanoue, a spokeswoman for the maker, Sega Toys.
"She's very lovable and though she's not a human, she can act like a real girlfriend." - SMH EMA runs on batteries and can also hand out business cards, sing and dance. The robot is expected to go on sale in September and will retail for approximately $175.
