EA Sports has announced the next instalment of its cricket game series, simply titled Cricket 07. Developed by EA Canada, Cricket 07 promises fully licensed squads, an improved camera system, and a new "Century Stick" control system.

"Our new, innovative 'Century Stick' control system will change the way all fans approach gameplay as you'll now have full control over foot choice, shot selection, shot power, and shot direction - it's never felt this close to actually wielding a bat before. You won't experience cricket this authentic without putting on your whites and walking down the pavilion steps yourself."

With a release date of November for PC and Playstation 2, EA is evidently trying to trump Codemasters' recently announced Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2007, which is due next March. It could be a competition of licenses, with EA's game featuring full player squads and the looming 3-Mobile Ashes series this summer, while Codemasters has licensed the ICC Champions Trophy and the World Cup.

EA has not yet launched a website for Cricket 07, but 3D Gamers has the first screenshots.
