Former WoW developers join new studio

Doesn't tell us much
Publisher NCsoft has announced the formation of a new development house, titled Carbine Studios. There's not much information about the game the studio's working on, except that it will be massively multiplayer and "break new ground".

It could be a game to keep an eye on based solely on its personnel. The studio is comprised of 17 former Blizzard employees, including some of World of Warcraft's lead developers, and one of Carbine's founders is Tim Cain, a co-founder of Troika Games (Arcanum, Bloodlines).

"This is a dev team made in heaven," said Robert Garriott, CEO for NCsoft's North American business. "This group is as experienced as they come in the area of computer role playing and multiplayer game design. Making successful games is second nature to them. They are a very welcome addition to the NCsoft family. The gaming community should be excited to see what great things come out of Carbine Studios in the coming years."

Carbine's website is a bit empty for now, listing a few job openings and some concept art.
