EA drops to number two

A worthwhile risk
The latest issue of Game Developer magazine features it annual ranking of industry publishers, and there's a new leader. Nintendo has displaced EA in the number one spot, after four years of EA dominance.

Game Developer's rankings are based on annual turnover, the number of releases, average review scores, a reputation survey, and feedback from people who have worked with the publishers.

Nintendo took first place as a result of higher revenues this year, thanks to the Wii and DS, as well as the highest score in the reputation survey. It was enough to beat out EA, though the California-based publisher still had the highest number of releases.

Other high performers were, in order, Activision, Ubisoft, THQ, Take-Two, Sega Sammy, Sony, Microsoft, and SCI/Eidos.
