CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk RPG shows sign of life

Could the long-awaited new game from The Witcher studio be emerging from its PR blackout?

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk RPG shows sign of life

Overnight, somewhere in Poland, a battered and dusty modem sputtered into life long enough to emit a single, plaintive beep.

Or rather, the official Twitter account for Cyberpunk 2077, dormant since December 5, 2013, suddenly issued the following tweet today:

The account did not issue any clarification or follow-up tweets nor respond to any of the thousands of replies generated by its original tweet.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the scantily-detailed yet hugely-anticipated next game from CD Projekt Red, the developer of The Witcher series. It is expected to be an action-RPG on a similar scale to The Witcher 3, only with mirrorshades and cyberspace instead of morning stars and chainmail.

In May 2015 we reported that the developer would not be talking about Cyberpunk 2077 until 2017. Later that year, CD Projekt Red said they had a release date for the game but would not reveal it until they were ready to start the marketing campaign.

It looks like that time may well be approaching.
